  4. this helped a great deal. One thing I found in my old window were small pieces of glass stuck around 2 of the edges as spacers. Strange -- the glass was a perfect 18x28, but the original builders had inserted little pane-thick pieces of glass to snug the fit. But it all worked out very well with your help. Thanks!
